Satellite launch for Amazon’s Project Kuiper satellite network on SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket. Amazon has booked three rockets for this.
Amazon plans to deploy the Kuiper satellite network by launching 3,236 satellites into low Earth orbit. Amazon’s Project Kuiper is a plan to provide satellite broadband internet service similar to SpaceX’s Starlink. Starlink already has 5000 satellites in orbit.
In 2019, Amazon announced a $10 billion project called Kuiper. It is not clear how many satellites are planned to be launched on Falcon 9 rockets. The satellite launch will start from mid-2025.
Even Starlink’s rival companies rely on SpaceX for their satellite launches. Being owned by its own company, Starlink is able to launch satellites faster with the help of Falcon 9.
One of Starlink’s competitors, Eutelsat One Webb, was previously intended to launch on Russia’s Soyuz rocket. But with the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war, the company abandoned its partnership with Russia.
