Entertainment Desk: Actor and Member of Parliament (MP) Akbar Hossain Pathan (Farooq), hero freedom fighter Akbar Hossain Pathan (Farooq), has filed nomination form of Awami League to contest the by-election of Dhaka-17 seat.
Ferdous collected the party form from the political office of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina in Dhanmondi on Monday (June 5).
Apart from acting, this popular hero has been involved with the politics of Bangladesh Awami League for a long time. He is seen in the front row at various party events. Not only that, Ferdous also attended the 73rd session of the United Nations as the Prime Minister’s travel companion.
Currently, the member of the Central Cultural Affairs Sub-Committee of Bangladesh Awami League is also a National Film Award winning actor.
Nayak Ferdous Banani has been living in the DOHS area for a long time. And Dhaka-17 Parliamentary Constituency has been formed with wards 15, 18, 19, 20 and 95 of Gulshan, Banani, Cantonment and Vasantek police stations of the capital.
Incidentally, actor Farooq died this year (May 15) while undergoing treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. Later his seat was declared vacant.
According to the announced schedule, the polling for Dhaka-17 vacant seats will be held on July 17. Last date for submission of nomination papers is 15th June, selection of nomination papers is 18th June, last date for withdrawal of candidature is 25th June.
