ThatThere are various cyber attacks targeting Android phones from time to time. Cyber security company F-Secure has now issued a warning about the dangerous Android app called ‘Spynet’. The e-spyware app leaks personal information through SMS or smishing technique phishing.
This is not an app on Google Play Store. Instead, when the user clicks on dangerous links, this app gets installed on the phone and takes control of the phone. Since it is not an app on the Play Store, it is not monitored by the Google Play Protect system.
Spynet app infiltrates the phone without any evidence. That’s why it’s hard to find. The app does not appear on the home screen or in the recent apps list. Once installed, the app will have access to all the data on the phone. The app gets call logs, SMS, internal storage, camera log and call record. Once this app is installed it is difficult to remove it. It will require a complete reset of the phone.
Google warns against installing apps from outside the Play Store and not clicking on unknown links because such apps exist. The latest apps must be installed. Always install security updates on the phone.
