Entertainment Desk: Indian movie ‘The Kerala Story’ directed by Sudipta Sen released on Friday (May 5). The box office has been rocking ever since its release.
However, the movie faced many controversies before its release. Many people even demanded a ban on charges of religious incitement. But despite everything, ‘The Kerala Story’ was doing great business at the box-office.
But finally the movie was banned. The show has already been stopped from all theaters in Tamil Nadu.
Indian news agency PTI reported, ‘The Kerala Story’ was taken down from theaters in Tamil Nadu on Sunday (May 7).
The Tamil Nadu Theater Owners Association has stopped the screening of the film on the pretext that it may disturb law and order. Besides, they claim that the audience is not going to the hall to watch the movie.
President of the organization M Subrahmanyam told PTI, ‘Only national multiplexes were basically running a few shows of the movie on PVR. Keeping law and order in mind, it has been decided not to run in them. Apart from that, not much audience appeared to watch those shows on Friday-Saturday.’
Before the release of the movie, the Indian Intelligence Service said that if the movie is released in Tamil Nadu, there may be clashes. That is why extra precautions are taken in this state. However, no reports of any incidents like clashes have been received yet.
Meanwhile, it has been reported from several Indian media that this movie was made in the context of forcibly converting Hindi and Christian girls of Kerala to Islam as well as joining ISIS.
Incidentally, in 2016, 21 girls from North Kerala went missing. Filmmaker Sudipta Sen has arranged the story of ‘The Kerala Story’ based on that real incident. The movie was released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages.
