Foxconn and Nvidia to build ‘AI factories’ around the world

Foxconn and Nvidia are planning to build a new type of data center. It will be a data center that can be used for various purposes including electric cars. It will be built using Nvidia’s chips and software. Both companies call it ‘AI Factories’.

Foxconn Chairman Liu Young-wei and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced the new venture at Foxconn’s annual technology show in Taipei.

‘A new type of manufacturing has been born, and intelligence is being produced there. AI factories are the data centers that produce it.’ Huang said. He said Foxconn has the expertise to build them globally.

Basically, such an AI factory is built to ensure smooth operation of large AI-based devices. For example, these AI factories could be used to operate smart electric cars powered by AI-based technologies and to store and process the data they constantly collect during their daily use.

Nvidia is the most powerful chip manufacturing company in the world. Leading companies, including OpenAI, the makers of Chat GPT, rely on Nvidia’s graphics cards to run their various AI applications. Nvidia has stated that its chip will be used in the AI ​​factories built in collaboration with Foxconn. The company’s powerful GH200 Super chip will also be used for this.

Foxconn is one of the main contract manufacturers that manufacture iPhones for Apple. Apart from smartphones, Foxconn manufactures many other electronic devices for various brands. Nvidia will use the company’s expertise to build the AI ​​factory.
