Entertainment Desk: ‘MR-9’ is based on popular detective novel Masood Rana series ‘Dhwanspahar’. The production company Jazz Multimedia has announced the release of this movie directed by Asif Akbar on August 25. The movie is a Bangladesh-US joint production.
The teaser of the movie has already been released. Where Bangladeshi actor ABM Sumon was seen in the central role. He played the role of detective Masood Rana in the movie. Several Hollywood and Bollywood stars have acted in it.
Notable among them are ‘Captain America’ actor Frank Grillo, ‘The Dark Knight’ Michael Jai White, ‘Wolf Warrior Two’ Oleg Prudius, ‘Army of One’ actor Nico Foster. Frank Grillo’s son Remy Grillo is also making his acting debut with this film. Bollywood actress Sakshi Pradhan of ‘Poison’ fame, Omi Vaidya of ‘Three Idiots’ fame and others are there.
This film, made with a huge budget of 83 crore rupees, has been shot separately in Bengali and English languages. Various scenes of the movie have been shot in Bangladesh, USA and South Africa.

‘MR-9’ is scripted by Asif Akbar, Abdul Aziz and Nazim ud Daula from the first book ‘Dhwans Pahar’ of Kazi Anwar Hossain’s ‘Masood Rana’ series. Bangladeshi production company Jazz Multimedia, Los Angeles-based Al Bravo Films and MR-Nine Films produced the movie.
