Entertainment Desk: Akbar Hossain Khan Dulu aka film hero Farooq, the famous freedom fighter Mia Bhai of Bengali films, easily adopted and loved the people of the area. His younger sister-in-law and cousin Mohammad Ali Pathan, a brave freedom fighter, said this on Wednesday (May 17) afternoon while reminiscing about film hero Farooq.
He said, Farooq Bhai became a little too busy after becoming a hero in the film world. Still he used to come back to his ancestral home whenever he got time. Since he had no work to do, he used to come home more often. He actually had hundreds of people in the house and it was very crowded. Then he used to get to know everyone, exchange skills with them.
Brave freedom fighter Muhammad Ali Pathan also said that he used to help the helpless and distressed people of the village as much as he could. He didn’t stay long at home. He used to leave in the morning or in the afternoon. Moreover, he would come home twice a year on Eid and pray with the people of the area. If he is invited to any event in the area, he tries to attend it.
It is to be noted that Nayak Farooq died on May 15 at around 10 am local time while undergoing treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. He was 75 years old. He is survived by wife Farzana Pathan, daughter Fariha Tabassum Pathan and son Roshan Hossain, relatives, friends and numerous fans.
Janaza was held on Tuesday (May 16) around 9 pm at the Eidgah Maidan adjacent to the central Jame Masjid in Somtiori. After the funeral, he was buried in the family cemetery adjacent to the mosque at 9:30. Earlier, his body was brought to the ancestral home of hero, MP and freedom fighter Akbar Hossain Pathan Dulu alias Farooq around 7:30 pm. People of all classes and professions of the area paid their respects there.
