WhatsApp has introduced a new secret code system for the chat lock feature on WhatsApp. This system is introduced to provide extra security to chats. This way you can set a special secret password for the chats.
Chat Lock is one of the useful features introduced by WhatsApp earlier this year. This is to hide chats that want privacy from prying eyes.
Locked chats are currently secured using the phone’s pin number, passcode, fingerprint and face. Locked chats will be moved to a separate list. To open this list, swipe down on the main chat list window. View locked chats by entering any of the phone’s password, fingerprint, or Face ID.
How to set secret code?
- Open the list of locked chats.
- Then tap on the three dot menu at the top
- Select Chat Lock Settings
- Turn on the Hide Locked Chats toggle button
- pay attention! Only set secret codes that are easy to remember
After setting the secret code, the locked chats can only be viewed by entering the secret code in the search bar at the top. Exiting the app will hide them again. Customer can also omit the secret code if not required. For this, just go to the above method and disable Hide locked Chat.
This feature will be rolled out to more people globally in the coming months. The company has not specified when this facility will arrive on WhatsApp desktop.
