entertainment desk: Bought the nomination form of Awami League with high hopes, wanted to be a candidate for boat in Dhaka-17 seat; But popular actor Ferdous Ahmed’s hopes were not fulfilled.
Actor Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooq was a Member of Parliament from Awami League in Dhaka-17 Constituency. By-elections are being held in this seat on July 17 due to his death.
In that election Ferdous submitted the nomination form of Awami League to be a candidate for boat. However, the decision of the party’s Parliamentary Nomination Board on Friday did not come in his favour.
On this day, ending all speculations, the chairman of Suchinta Foundation, Prof. Mohammad A. Arafat, was nominated. Later, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced the name of the party’s nominated candidate after coming out of Ganobhaban.
Meanwhile, actor Ferdous has announced that he will accept the party’s decision and work for the nominated candidate of Awami League even if he does not get the nomination.
He said, ‘I am a child of this (Dhaka-17 Constituency) area. I was born, brought up and studied here. I know the streets of this area, every lane. And the people here also love me very much. I know what needs to be done here. So I decided to run for election not as a hero, but as a child of this area.’
Jehuto Mohammad A Arafat got the boat ticket. Now what will participate in the campaign for him? In reply, Ferdous said, ‘I have been doing various social works for Awami League for almost two decades. This work will continue in the future. Our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken a decision knowing what will be good. I applaud that. And because I have not been given the opportunity to choose, I will not work – there is no way to think that. Of course I will be found in the campaign field for Awami League. Rather, I will do the work with more interest, this is my area.’
